What we cover in last week’s recap:

🗞️News:

Automat raises $15.5 million in a Series A funding round

Intelligent Document Processing provider Automat has announced that it has raised 15.5 million in a Series A funding round. The Series A was led by Felicis with participation from Initialized, Khosla Ventures and Y Combinator, as well as K5 Global and Input Capita, bringing the company’s total capital to $19.25 million. Lucas Ochoa, Co-Founder and CEO at Automat, commented: “When Gautam Bose and I started off in this journey we set our sights on building great tools that used LLMs to do work on our behalf. Nearly two years later we’re scaling our operations, quickly supplanting the old guard of enterprise automation tools like RPA and — by hell or high-water — building the best general purpose UI-Agent authorship tool as a result.”

Infrrd wins Deep Analysis’ 2025 Innovation Award

Analyst firm Deep Analysis has announced this year’s winners of its Innovation Awards: LatticeFlow AI, an AI platform which enables organizations to build performant, trustworthy AI applications, and Intelligent Document Processing vendor Infrrd. Deep Analysis praised the IDP vendor: “Infrrd is not just playing in the Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) space; it is pushing its boundaries. The company has distinguished itself by tackling some of the most complex, document-heavy use cases in industries like mortgage lending and logistics. By combining AI innovation with deep, customer-driven customization, Infrrd turns automation theory into practical reality. Their commitment is underscored by substantial R&D investment, with 12 patent applications filed and seven granted to date. They are solving problems others find too difficult to automate.” Alan Pelz-Sharpe, Founder of Deep Analysis, explained: “There were only two this year: Infrrd and LatticeFlow AI. Why only two? The short answer: innovation comes in waves, and we are currently in a bit of trough between them. The past decade was a frenzy of invention — from the IDP revolution to the LLM explosion and the rise of Agentic AI. But let’s be clear: innovation does not equal implementation.” You can download the freely available report here.

Rossum publishes ‘Document Automation Trends 2026’ report

Intelligent Document Processing vendor Rossum has published “The Document Automation Trends Report 2026: From Hype to Hard Returns”, for which 450 finance executives in the UK, US, and Germany were surveyed. Among other things, the report highlights that 54.2% of finance executives say their financial processes are only partially automated, exposing them to risk of fraud. However, 43.8% of finance executives agreed that automation and AI present more opportunities than risks to their company’s security. Petr Baudiš, CTO and Co-founder at Rossum, commented: “In the world of finance, the measure of AI’s value is whether it can deliver accuracy, foresight and protect against fraud – not just speed. This maturity gap is a stark reminder that legacy tools simply can’t handle today’s complexity. It’s been proven AI can eliminate manual data entry, but the next step is achieving verifiable accuracy and predictive power.” You can download the freely available report here.

OpenText introduces its new AI Data Platform (AIDP)

Intelligent Document Processing provider OpenText has announced the introduction of its new AI Data Platform (AIDP), which addresses the convergence of data and AI to deliver secure and scalable enterprise capabilities. Savinay Berry, CPO and CTO at OpenText, explained: “AI is evolving rapidly, from search and summarize to domain-specific agents. Rather than the world of one super agent, we will soon have armies of secure AI agents for every critical business process coordinated through AI orchestrators. While others are starting with models, we start with governed enterprise content and processes. That’s why our agents will answer with auditability and not guesswork. We believe that accuracy through trusted data and AI is not just an IT challenge; it is a c-level imperative. With the OpenText AI Data Platform, we are building a truly open architecture enabled by APIs so the choice of where the data resides always sits with our customers. AI agents must be built on specific data sets to be relevant and accurate.”
