🗞️News:
QKS Group publishes its SPARK Matrix™: Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), 2025
Analyst and research firm QKS Group has published its latest SPARK Matrix: Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), 2025 report. In it, QKS Group provides a detailed competition analysis and vendor evaluation using its proprietary SPARK Matrix analysis, which ranks each vendor as an “Aspirant”, “Strong Contender”, or “SPARK Leader” based on its technology excellence and customer impact compared to its competitors. The SPARK Matrix™: Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), 2025 includes an analysis of the following 26 IDP vendors (in alphabetical order): ABBYY, AntWorks, Appian, Automation Anywhere, Datamatics, EdgeVerve, EXL, HCL Technologies, Hyland, Hyperscience, Infrrd, Instabase, Iron Mountain, KnowledgeLake, Kodak Alaris, Microsoft, Nividous, OpenBots, OpenText, Parashift, Roots, Rossum, Tungsten Automation, UiPath, UST, and Visionet Systems. Apoorva Dawalbhakta, Associate Director Research at the QKS Group, explained: “The global Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) market is transitioning from traditional capture-centric tools towards more adaptive and AI-driven platforms, which function as the enterprise’s ‘document intelligence’ layer. What was once limited to mere OCR and template-based extraction, has now steadfastly evolved into a critical ‘strategic enabler’, that combines aspects like – cognitive capture, template-free learning, and GenAI, specifically for contextual insights and summarization. The most impactful IDP platforms are those that would embed ‘ModelOps’, critical governance, and low-code usability, thereby ensuring scalability, without compromising on the accuracy or compliance. Globally, IDP is no longer a mere ‘supporting technology’, but is rather becoming the absolute ‘connective tissue’ between the unstructured content and the orchestrated enterprise workflows. Moving ahead, as enterprises would confront the increasingly rising volumes of unstructured data, and thereby pursue agentic automation, modern IDP in its current form appears to be emerging as the critical foundational capability, which would be effectively transforming documents into – reliable and actionable knowledge assets, while driving intelligent, compliant, and agile end-to-end business operations.”
ABBYY and Desktop Imaging transform New Zealand’s public sector with Document AI and intelligent automation
Intelligent Document Processing vendor ABBYY has announced that together with its partner Desktop Imaging, it is transforming New Zealand’s public sector with Document AI and intelligent automation, helping Wellington City Council accelerate rates rebate processing and Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) handle tens of thousands of invoices across 650+ stations. FENZ previously struggled with manual handling, legacy systems, delays, errors, and compliance risks. ABBYY Vantage, integrated into Desktop Imaging’s DI Invoicing cloud service, now automates invoice capture, classification, and extraction—feeding data into validation engines for business rules, fraud checks, and IRD-compliant workflows. Bruce Orcutt, Chief Marketing Officer at ABBYY, commented: “The tangible benefits citizens in New Zealand receive are a testament to the power of AI-powered automation and the collaboration between ABBYY and Desktop Imaging. By leveraging industry-leading intelligent document processing and workflow automation solutions to automate critical processes, citizens now receive faster rates rebates, smoother payments, and more reliable access to essential services. By using our joint solution, government agencies can leave the digital transformation to us so they can focus on serving their constituents.”

Why You Need a Zero-Retention in an AI Intelligent Document Processing Solution!
The “data graveyard” is a new risk that has emerged now that companies in the DACH region are accelerating their digital transformation. Permanent storage, which leaves digital traces of the most sensitive data, is not the most secure method for handling sensitive information. How can it be done better? 2026 Automation Statistics That’ll Upset the Finance Applecart
In its recently published ‘Document Automation Trends 2026’ report, IDP vendor Rossum surveyed 450 finance leaders across the UK, US, and Germany, exposing a stark divide between automation promise and reality. Over half (54.2%) of teams remain trapped in partial automation, leaning on inconsistent OCR and human intervention that breeds exceptions, slow cycles, and scalability doubts—while only 36% achieve full automation with reliable KPIs. Accuracy now trumps speed for 61.6%, fueled by expanding compliance, e-invoicing mandates, and sophisticated fraud—33.3% admit current tools can’t scale with demands. Finance measures success through hard operational metrics like cost per invoice, processing time, error rates, and exceptions (34.2% priority), ditching vague AI hype for proven value. The full DAT26 report offers deeper insights into this shift.
