Box announces major platform updates with AI Agents for enhanced data extraction

The intelligent content management platform Box has announced its all-new Box AI platform. This enables customers to leverage AI agents for search, deep research and advanced data extraction, among other capabilities. With enhanced data extraction, Box AI agents transform unstructured data into actionable data. Thanks to OCR, document intelligence and natural language processing, Box AI agents automatically extract key information such as dates, financial figures, clause types and contract terms. Aaron Levie, Co-Founder and CEO of Box, explained: “The future of enterprise AI will be defined by intelligent agents that can work together across systems, each bringing unique context and capabilities to the table. Just as APIs once connected software, AI agents will change the way we work – and that transformation will be most profound when applied to enterprise content. With this next evolution of Box AI, we’re putting the intelligence of millions of files directly into the hands of users and into the AI tools they already use. These Agents will integrate seamlessly across platforms, helping teams make faster, more informed decisions while preserving the security and compliance enterprises depend on.” Dan Lucarini, Senior Analyst at Deep Analysis, commented: “Box AI’s Agent approach aligns with broader agentic AI trends we’ve been tracking in intelligent document processing, ECM and automation. Seems every vendor is releasing – or planning to release – agents that extract data. Last year Box acquired IDP software company Alphamoon and it looks like they’re leveraging the Polish company’s document AI expertise for the new data extraction agents.” To get the in-depth view on all platform enhancements, read the Box blog here.
